We’ve all taken risks with our meals before… dipping a salt & vinegar crisp into chocolate, putting peanut butter on a banana, even mixing fruit with hot meals! However, here we have the crazy food combinations out there… But do you dare to test them?
1. Peanut Butter and a Dill Pickle
One of our crazy food combinations delivers a taste-bud attack… the smooth texture from the butter clashing with the sour zing of the pickle creates a taste that many would reject. The combination is a 1930s classic that is still used today, due to its contrasting blend of salty and sweet… who needs cinema popcorn when you could just dip a pickle in a jar of peanut butter?
2. Chips and Ice Cream
We’ve all seen people dipping their McDonald’s fries in their milkshakes, and judged them for it. However, chips and ice cream offer a similar sensation… just better. The salty bite of the chips provides a gentle alternative against the sweetness to the ice cream. Yet further, the warmth of the chips bites against the bitter cold held in the ice cream. ‘Hot ‘n’ Cold’ by Katy Perry took inspiration from this. Trust us.
3. Cucumber and Honey
Imagine a comforting Vietnamese salad, but with two items. Quality in snacking has never been easier. This combination creates a sweet and crunchy delight that you would never say no to. Want a salad without the leaves? Or maybe a salad that’s a little sweet? Maybe a salad that is verging on the line of not really being a salad? Sorted.
4. Banana and Marmite
The gentle spice that flavours Marmite creates a beautiful blend with the creaminess of the banana. Imagine a mild curry… but substitute the meat for a banana (not that that sounds any more appealing). Another sweet and salty mixture, that you will never get enough of.
5. Pineapple and Pizza
Dear Italians, sorry. We all have that friend that downfalls shame amongst the group when they ask for pineapple on their pizza at Domino’s, and once, that friend would have been left behind to be punished for their foul acts… yet, a light has been lit on their vision. Pineapple on pizza is a gentle sweetness against the salt and grease, in which pizza is all about. You could say the fruity addition contributes to one of your five a day, which almost makes it healthy. You’re welcome.
