Groombridge Place, a historic manor house near Tunbridge Wells, is set to undergo a multi-million pound transformation into a luxurious hotel and spa.
Closed for renovations since March 2023, the 17th-century estate is set to reopen as The Pig at Groombridge in 2026. The renowned luxury hotel brand, The Pig, is leading this ambitious project and investing over £20 million.
A Luxurious Retreat
The Pig at Groombridge will offer guests a unique blend of historic charm and modern comfort. The main manor house, which first opened its doors in 1674, will house nine opulent en-suite bedrooms. Additionally, the estate will convert other buildings to provide an additional 56 bedrooms.
Beyond the luxurious accommodations, the estate’s expansive grounds, spanning over 100 acres, will offer a serene escape for nature lovers. They will relocate and upgrade the existing owl and raptor centers to meet the highest standards, ensuring a captivating experience for visitors of all ages.
A Sustainable Future
The Pig brand commits to sustainable practices, and Groombridge Place is no exception. The hotel will incorporate eco-friendly initiatives, such as sourcing local ingredients for its renowned farm-to-table cuisine and minimising its environmental impact.
As the renovation project progresses, anticipation grows for the reopening of this historic gem. The Pig at Groombridge promises to be a destination that blends timeless elegance with contemporary luxury, offering an unforgettable experience for discerning travelers.
