Distinguished Warwickshire brewer, Purity Brewing Company, has proudly unveiled a landmark licensing collaboration with English Heritage, marking one of the company’s most significant partnerships in recent memory. The result is the introduction of the English Heritage Collection by Purity Brewing Company – a triumvirate comprising Best Bitter, Organic Craft Lager, and Low Alcohol Pale Ale. This collaboration symbolizes a joint celebration of the shared sustainability and authenticity values held by both esteemed brands.
The collection features a 4% ABV Modern Day Gluten-Free (GF) Best Bitter, a 5% ABV Organic GF Lager, and the 0.5% ABV GF Low-Alcohol Pale Ale. All these offerings are now available for purchase in various outlets, including shops and cafes located within English Heritage’s 400 historic sites, encompassing renowned English medieval castles, Roman forts, and abbeys.
This collaboration holds particular significance for the Purity team, as it pays homage to the late co-founder Jim Minkin, who harboured a deep passion for Roman history. Established in Great Alne in 2005 by Jim Minkin and Paul Hasley, Purity was founded on the shared mission to ‘brew great beer without prejudice, with a conscience, consistency, and attention to detail.’
The historical theme is further brought to life through the collection’s branding, featuring a contemporary interpretation of historic English helmets. Paul Brazier, Purity’s Head of Marketing, remarked on the partnership, stating, “The English Heritage partnership has been forged with a shared aspiration to leave an indelible mark of quality, sustainability, and authenticity on the world.”
Brazier continued, “Through our English Heritage Collection, celebrating the finest aspects of our green and pleasant land, our beers embody the rich and characterful flavours akin to our country’s historical depth. This presents a superb opportunity to narrate authentic stories through the lens of national treasures.”
The collection’s distinctive label designs seamlessly integrate the three fundamental brewing ingredients: whole cone hops, malted barley, and pure water, with depictions of medieval battle-worn helmets from pivotal moments in English history. These include the invasion of English shores by Saxon and Viking warriors, and the enduring conquests of the infamous Knights Templar.
Expressing satisfaction with the collaboration, Alexandra Bovey, English Heritage’s Licensing and Commercial Development Manager, commented, “We’re immensely proud to have partnered with Purity, knowing them to be an ideal match as a responsible brewer committed to sustainable practices and unwavering quality.”
She further noted, “The product range, a result of months of collaborative development, boasts exquisite design, and we are delighted to offer this range to our visitors, members, and the wider public.”
At the heart of Purity’s ethos lies a steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship. The brewery exclusively employs natural ingredients, actively supports recycling initiatives, and upholds a sense of responsibility towards the local community and environment. Through its innovative wetland system, waste products are recycled, fostering a sustainable ecosystem that minimizes carbon dioxide emissions, reduces energy consumption, and promotes wildlife diversity.
